This was the test of Ed Miliband’s leadership. He outlined in the previous 5 years why the country should come back to Labour. The Labour Manifesto focused on five keys areas, culminating in the production of a stone tablet, which caused criticism within the UK Labour Party and media.

The result of the General Election saw the Conservative Party gain an overall majority in the UK Government. The Labour Party lost all but one seat in Scotland. In England it had a net gain of four seats and a net loss of one seat in Wales. Ed Miliband resigned at Leader of the Labour Party two days after the General Election.
